How it works

Information first. Connections when available.

Home Service Compass helps homeowners describe a new service need and understand the questions to ask. When coverage exists, the request may be connected to an independent provider.

1. Review the service

Use our category information to organize facts about the property and the work you may need.

2. Submit the ZIP code

Availability can depend on category, ZIP code, provider hours, homeowner status, and current capacity.

3. Discuss the project

If a provider is available, that independent business discusses its own estimate, terms, scheduling, and work.

What Home Service Compass does

  • Publishes general educational information about home service categories.
  • Collects a homeowner's voluntary request and location details.
  • May receive compensation when a user contacts or is connected with a participating provider.
  • May route a qualifying new-service request to an independent third party when coverage is available.

What Home Service Compass does not do

  • Perform, supervise, price, guarantee, or warrant contracting work.
  • Represent that every provider serves every ZIP code or is always available.
  • Handle billing, warranty, scheduling, or complaints for work already performed by another company.
  • Replace the homeowner's responsibility to verify identity, licensing, insurance, scope, and terms.

Before hiring a provider

Verify the exact company name, applicable licenses and insurance, service address, written scope, total price, warranty, payment schedule, cancellation terms, and who will obtain required permits. Requirements vary by state and municipality.

No appointment guaranteeSubmitting a form or placing a call does not guarantee a provider connection, appointment, arrival time, estimate, price, or completed service.
